WHAT MAKES A GREAT HOME PAGE for your speech therapy website?

Updated: Apr 29

Who are you?

Where are you located?

What do you do?

Do you understand my

problem?

Can you help solve it?

Why choose your practice over another?

Who’s providing the therapy?

Where will we do therapy?

How do I get started?

These are the questions your website visitors have when they come to your site looking for information. Let’s not make them work for these answers!

your home page is the easy button of your website

Your home page is the easy button on your website. It clearly and concisely tells your visitors everything they want to know and what you want them to do. In some ways, they should be building a connection and trust with you as they read and scroll. Even if someone goes no further than your home page, they should have a QUICK AND CLEAR answer to all of their questions. When this is accomplished, many visitors will take action right from the home page.

The way you're communicating with your audience will tell them three things:

  1. You understand them and they’re not alone with their problem anymore

  2. You have a solution for them and will guide them to success

  3. You are a trustworthy company

so how do we accomplish this?

This is accomplished by being strategic about what you put on your home page ~ including being mindful of the words you choose, the style of your writing, your word count, your layout and design, and your images.

Now, you might be wondering, "If I answer all of these questions on the home page, do I need the rest of the website?" Well, the answer is yes and no. If you’re just wanting to establish an online presence, your home page is truly all you need (though we recommend also having an FAQ page). Your home page can act as a modern single-page website, which will serve you well if you follow our guidelines.

So who is a multi-page website for? If you're a highly specialized practice, have more than one therapist, work as a multi-disciplinary team, or want to prioritize SEO, a multi-page site is the solution for you. It allows you to go into long-form text and provide more information about your services and who you are. A page dedicated to services gives you space to talk about evaluations, therapy, the specific populations you treat, and your unique approach to therapy.

the essentials sections on your home page must...

  • Make it easy for your future clients to find important information such as your phone number, email, and location!

  • Lead with a clear and concise statement about what you do/offer

  • Introduce your unique solutions to your client's problems

  • Establish the tone of your business

  • Share your mission statement and elevator pitch

  • Differentiate yourself from the competition

  • Outline the steps a person will take to enlist your services

  • Highlight the benefits of your service location/s

  • And, most importantly, DRIVE CLIENTS TO A SINGLE ACTION: TO CONTACT YOU!
